With the close of our Icarus Summer Photo Competition we’ve found ourselves at a loss for words. Or rather, at a loss for names!
So today is the beginning of NZ Aerosports’ new competition for 2011, the Name A Canopy contest.
It all started because we need to rename one of our new high performance swooping prototypes, currently called Petra. We have a few ideas of our own that we are considering, but at the moment, none quite seem to fit. We thought it would be best to tap into our wide and varied audience – in other words, you lot!
What do you think we should call our new canopy? It can be funny, cool, sexy, or just plain awesome!
We need to pick a name for Petra by the 1st of July, but the contest is gonna be ongoing – we’re always going to need new names for new canopies, and we’d love for all of you to be involved. Just post up your suggestion at any time on our Icarus Canopies by NZ Aerosports facebook wall.
Every few weeks we’ll post up a new list of the suggestions for everyone to see – and if we ever use your name (and it isn’t one we have already thought of), we’ll hook you up with a brand new FREE canopy!
First up first served: if someone else has already suggested the same name then they have the rights to it – including us! But don’t worry we’re not gonna go stealing your name off you without a prize!
So get those thinking caps on, sit down with a beer, or head up in a plane for some ‘inspiration’ - and get creating some wicked new names for the next Icarus and Daedalus canopies!
NOTE: In the case of writer’s block or lack of sufficient inspiration, pray to SkyGod. (That’s what we do.) You can write His Holiness a letter at Blue Skies magazine to ask him for a little bit of help…
